*How It Works
Personality
Celvi would be described by most as quiet and kind, never saying something inappropriate, never rebelling. She rather says one "yes, Highness" too many than too less. But this is Celvi on the outside, the thick skin she grew against all assaults at her by those higher in rank – and of course her acting on the good manners Aunt Dagmara hammered into her.
She hates to be prone to crying, but she can't help it, and unfortunately the Princess knows very well to play on this weakness.
There's one completely different side to Celvi, too, which the few people who get to see it would shrug off as her "Fay moments", when something breaks through her thick skin, making her break out.
Then she tries to sneak away as soon as possible, takes her horse and her bow and rides off towards the banks of the Ryum River. These little breakouts when she can shoot her bow, ride as fast as she likes and laugh as loud as she wants help her through the times when she feels like captured inside a golden cage.
However, these moments are getting fewer and fewer, for she feels herself being under constant surveillance. Or is it the court life is slowly taking its toll on her, too? She fears the time when one day she won't be able to shed her skin, forever caught in a life she never wanted to live.

Apperance
Celvi is 5'7'' tall and slender. Her hair has the colour of ebony and falls in long waves or curls down to her waist, depending on how she treats it.
Her skin is pale, like most of the Lamorans are.
The most prominent feature are her eyes, who are of two different colours. The right on is blue and the left on is split into a blue half and a green. This she owes her nickname "Fay" to, because people say a fairy must have touched her while she was sleeping in her cradle.
Celvi usually wears the fine gowns of a noblewoman, but now and then you can see her wearing a man's riding gown when she accompanies the Princess on one of her rides.
The Back Story

History
Celvi Gray grew up as the only child of Gordon and Talyia Gray, the latter surviving Celvi's birth only a few weeks.
Being without her mother should have great effect of Celvi's upbringing, because her father loved her dearly, granting her every wish from an early age. This could have turned Celvi into a spoilt young girl, hadn't there been also Aunt Dagmara, her father's sister who took it upon her to replace her mother in a very special way. Dagmara Gray had never married and was a highly ascetic woman, trying to teach Celvi humbleness and "good manners".
When Celvi was fourteen her father joined into the war between Lamora and Mar'vol, leaving Celvi entrusted in Dagmara's care.
As soon as her father was away, Dagmara sent the girl to the palace, so that she may learn her way amongst other nobles and maybe make a good catch.
Celvi became one of the Princess' ladies-in-waiting and playmates, soon learning to best listen to her every whim.
Her days now are filled with reading, court gossip, stitching and occasionally accompanying the Princess on a riding trip – all with Countess Dagmara keeping a watchful eye on her, always ready to correct her or unnerve her with endless sermons about humility and gracefulness.
For some years now she has a serious crush on the Queen's own messenger, Chase Cantwell, but since he is still 'only' a commoner, however much the Queen favoures him, she keeps her feelings all to herself, fearing someone as strict as the Princess or Aunt Dagmara might find her out and marry her off to some old man in an instant. Seeing Chase and occasional fond letters from her father are the spotlights in her otherwise uneventful life.

"… and the third pillar is the woman's submission under her husband's will. It is not her right to speak up when he told her to be silent, nor…"
Celvi gave a little sigh, but hid it behind a polite and hopefully interested smile. How she hated afternoons like this! This endless reading of doctrines and devices, each Lady a paragraph or two, to kill time when there were so many other interesting things to do. Her gaze began to stray, from her seat she had a good view over the harsh Dividor Mountains and also could see a bit of the courtyard, where the people were bustling with activity. At least they won't be bored to death at any time soon.
The faint clattering of hooves caught her attention and she craned her neck to see who was coming. A tall figure resolutely dismounted his horse, patted its neck and took a second to look around the courtyard. A warm shiver ran down Celvi's spine and her lips curled up into a distant smile. Chase was coming home! He had been away all day, on some errand for the queen, and his absence had gnawed at her mind ever since, for it could have easily been some kind of dangerous mission, what with the war and all…
A dig in the ribs brought her back into reality. Oh no, it was her turn to read! Where had they left off?
"What are you daydreaming over, eh, Fay?" the princess asked in that certain tone of voice that indicated she was caught between anger and curiosity.
"Nothing specific, your Highness, I'm sorry!" Celvi hastened to say, but she had aroused the Princess' interest now. Slowly she got up and sauntered towards the window. "What might be down there that enthralls you?"
Celvi gulped and prayed to Runnori Chase might have left the courtyard by now.
"Servants and washerwomen!" The Princess announced with a snort. "Wanna join them, Celvi Gray? You seem to prefer them over me!"
"Oh no, never your Highness!" Celvi protested and jumped to her feet only to lower herself in a deep reverence. "Forgive me my absent mind, your Highness!"
The Princess looked down her nose at the young woman and kept her in supsense for a short while.
"Very well then, Miss Gray. Remember to be more attentive in the future. Miss Falchion, show her where we stopped!"
Greatly relieved Celvi began to read and tried to get her mind off Chase for now. There was no use in risking her wellbeing and prospects for a dream that would never come true.
